The STPA is a Community of Newspapers and the largest regional press association in the country.
The STPA also sponsors two $1,500 Internship Programs providing eight weeks of on-the-job training for college students with a member newspaper. It also awards two $1,500 Scholarships to a deserving college student pursuing a degree in a journalism-related field and to a college-bound graduating high school senior who is pursuing a career in a journalism-related field. STPA membership comes in five classes: active, individual, associate, participating, and honorary. Annual membership meeting and convention is held each April. Membership dues are $75 per year.
The South Texas Press Association (STPA) was established in 1927 to promote the welfare of, encourage ethical practices in, and protect the interests of the newspaper publishing industry in the South Texas.
