Reservations must be made no later than March 13 in order to get the STPA rate. There are limited number of one-bedroom rooms, so I urge you make your reservations early. We will release any remaining rooms on March 14.

South Texas Press Association met at San Marcos for its 83rd annual convention, April 22-24. Attendee count was 117 people representing 32 newspapers.
Members elected officers and directors as follows: Lisa Walters, Fredericksburg Standard-Radio Post, chairman of the board; Daniel Elizondo, Pleasanton Express, president; Tania French, Port Lavaca Wave, 1st vice president; Jason Jarrett, Westlake Picayune, 2nd vice president; Jeff Berger, Hondo Anvil-Herald, secretary/treasurer; Mary Judson, Port Aransas South Jetty, and Larry Jackson, Fayette County Record, assistants to the president; Bill Wilkerson, Pleasanton Express, financial assistant to the president; Sam Keach, Nueces County Record-Star, retired, historian; Ken Esten Cooke, Rockdale Reporter, sponsorship chairman.
The association elected a board of directors, terms expiring 2011: Brandi Chionsini Guy, Granite Publications; Mike McCracken, Yoakum Herald-Times; Cindy Parkhurst, Colorado County Citizen, Columbus.
Terms expiring 2012: Chad Ferguson, Banner Press Newspaper, Columbus; Larry Hauk, Copperas Cove Leader-Press; Kim Jung, Fredericksburg Standard-Radio Post.
Terms expiring 2013: Kathy Cooke Martin, Rockdale Reporter; Cyndy Slovak-Barton, The Free Press, Buda; Nick West, Palacios Beacon.
The STPA Martin L. "Red" Gibson Award was presented "in grateful appreciation in recognition for your many years of friendship and support" to Larry Jones, AEP Texas Corporate Communications. Mary and Murray Judson, owners and publishers of the Port Aransas South Jetty, received the Chester Evans Award "in grateful recognition for years of dedicated service to the South Texas Press Association."
Convention speakers included Twister Marquiss of Texas State University and retired University of Texas journalism instructor Griff Singer presented a 3-hour seminar.
